DATE AND DURATION OF COURSE
2.The 181st Basic Airborne Course will be conducted from 6 Jun to 25 Jun 05, inclusive of preparatory ground training and parachute descent.
LOCATION
3.The Course will be conducted at Parachute Training Wing (PTW), School of Commandos, Hendon Camp.
COURSE CAPACITY
4.The capacity of the Course for the NCC is 20 trainees.
PRE-REQUISITES
5.NCC officers, Cadet Lieutenants and cadets who wish to attend the Course must satisfy the following pre-requisites:
a. Must have parental consent (for cadets only)
b. Must be at least 16 years old on 27 May 2005.
c. Must have completed at least Sec 3 education.
d. Must be combat fit as PES A.
e. Must have a minimum weight of 42 kg. (This is the minimum weight required to activate the parachute)
7.Those who do not meet the age or the above requirement will not be considered for the course.
SELECTION TESTS
8.The selection tests will be conducted on the following dates:
a.The preliminary test will be conducted on Friday, 27 May 05 at 1500 hrs at Multi-Purpose Hall, HQ NCC, Amoy Quee Campus.
b.The final selection test will be conducted at PTW, SOC, Hendon Camp, Changi at a later date (Applicants will be informed after the first selection).
SELECTION STANDARD
9.The dress for the test is SAF No. 4 camouflage uniform with combat boots (jungle boots will not be allowed). To qualify, candidates must achieve the following minimum requirements in one sitting:
Male
a. 30 push-ups within 1 min
b. 30 sit-ups within 1 min
c. 08 chin-ups
d. 2.4 km run in SAF No. 4 within 12 min 30 sec
METHOD OF APPLICATION
10. Interested NCC officers and cadets who wish to attend the course are required to complete the enclosed forms. All fully completed application forms (with parental consent for cadets only) are to reach the Training Branch, HQ NCC by 21 May 2005. Late applications or incomplete forms will not be considered for the course.
PREPARATORY TRAINING
11. All interested candidates must carry out their own preparatory training before the preliminary selection test to be conducted by HQ NCC.
MEDICAL EXAMINATION
12. All successful candidates of the preliminary test will be required to undergo a medical examination at the Medical Classification Centre (MCC) located at Depot Road Camp to determine their fitness for the final selection test as well as for the course. Those who fail the medical check-up will not be considered for the final selection test or the course.
13. Candidates with history of medical conditions should inform the MO of their medical problem.
EYESIGHT
14. Candidates requiring spectacles may also apply for the course. Those who wear power lenses/contact lenses with myopia up to 5.00 D, may be considered for the course subject to medical advice.
COURSE AWARD
15. Trainees who have completed the course successfully will be awarded the SAF Airborne Wing.
